The homeowners selected Black Locust for its natural longevity and resistance to decay — a hardwood that performs exceptionally well around water without the need for chemical treatment. For the primary deck surface, the project utilized our 5/4 x 6 Premium Black Locust decking, creating a clean, wide-plank layout that frames the pool and spa with warmth and durability. A short walkway extending through the pool area further demonstrates Black Locust’s ability to thrive in wet, exposed conditions. Constant proximity to water, splashing, and fluctuating moisture levels make pool environments demanding — yet Black Locust’s natural rot resistance makes it uniquely suited for these applications. Another standout feature of the project is the integration of our ProFlow Hive pavers, adding architectural texture and a distinctive visual element to the surrounding landscape. The combination of decking and permeable wood pavers creates a cohesive outdoor space that balances performance with design. We’re proud to see Black Locust continue expanding across the West Coast, bringing a durable, naturally resilient hardwood option to projects throughout California.
