As the original Black Locust Lumber Company, we are the industry’s trusted experts—with over 30 years of experience. Unlike some sawmills or competitors who offer Black Locust as a side product, we specialize in it exclusively—bringing unmatched knowledge, consistency, and quality to every project.
At Black Locust Lumber, we’ve been leading the way in sustainable hardwood for over 30 years. As one of the first companies to champion Black Locust as an architectural material—transforming it from an agricultural species into a premium building product—we bring unmatched expertise to every board we ship.
We are specialists, not generalists. We work exclusively with Black Locust, and that singular focus allows us to provide superior quality, better availability, and deep knowledge of the species’ performance in the field. From small backyard decks to award-winning LEED Platinum projects, our lumber is trusted by homeowners, architects, and contractors nationwide.
We now offer a simplified random length pricing model across our most popular decking and siding profiles. Random lengths (3’ to 8’) offer flexibility for on-site layout and help reduce waste. For projects requiring exact board lengths, we offer our Signature Series, precision-cut, double end-trimmed, and wax-sealed to jobsite-ready specifications.
All prices include milling—there are no extra charges for eased edges, S4S, or groove profiles for hidden fasteners.
We hold ourselves to a higher standard than most suppliers. That’s why we offer two clear, transparent grading options:
You can always reference our grading guide for more information.
As a high-volume specialty mill, we are uniquely equipped to handle long length requests (6', 8', 10', 12'+) and custom milling profiles. Need something special? We likely already do it.
Sustainably Sourced. Family Owned.
We’re proud to be a small, family-owned business with a long-standing commitment to sustainability and responsible sourcing. When you choose Black Locust Lumber, you’re working with the original pioneers—committed to honest pricing, real quality, and materials that last for generations.
