Black Locust is a sustainable, no maintenance alternative to endangered tropical hardwoods and chemically treated lumber. Black Locust, also known as Robinia Pseudoacacia, is a natural durable hardwood that will last for decades without any treatment. The Rainforest Alliance™ lists Black Locust among the most preferred alternatives vs. tropical hardwoods for outdoor applications. The harvesting of rainforest tropical hardwoods is unsustainable.

Black Locust / Robinia Pseudoacacia, serves as an alternative to pressure treated lumber., which is treated with a wide variety of Red Listed Chemicals in accordance with the The Living Future Institute™. Therefore, no further enhancements or treatments are required for the longevity of the Black Locust.

The Vision

The attributes of this tree are seemingly endless and yet today, few people are aware of it. On a sustainable level, Black Locust continues to push the boundaries as a green building material. The tree grows faster than any other known hardwood in comparison to the hundreds of years of growth for tropical species. We have established a reforestation program collaborating with multiple universities, growing new trees with every order to be used in future land reclamation projects. As well as giving back to the environment, we pride ourselves in giving back to the communities we work with. At all our manufacturing sites, we work with local correction facilities to teach our employees tangible job training skills they can apply to the real world.
